GTX 660 and Radeon R9 280x in one system?

I currently own the 660 and will soon buy the 280x.
Could i use both of the cards in one system?
My specs:
CPU: Intel Core i5 4440 @ 3.10GHz
Motherboard: MSI Z97-G55 SLI
HD: 1863GB Seagate ST2000DM001-1CH164
RAM: 8,00GB Single-Channel DDR3 @ 799MHz
GPU: 2047MB NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660 (MSI)

The two cards will work if you just need more monitors than the GTX660 supports. However, the monitors will each be driven by their respective card. So no mirroring or anything like that.

However, it's easier to stick with the same make (AMD or NVIDIA) for multi monitor setups. Installing two cards from different manufacturers and their drivers can cause issues.

As mentioned, there will not be any performance benefit to doing this.
