Hi guys i'm looking to move into 4k gaming. I've got £700/$1180 to spend on a GPU at the minute i'm thinking of going with two sli GTX 780's with 6GB but if you have any better cards for 4k gaming for maxing out games like BF4 and other big games

Thanks

Solution
Just wait, I'll be blunt, it is retarded to buy 780s now, 880 releases in like a month or two and it will be cheaper and superior to whatever options you have now.

I've been looking at them and 4GB isn't good for 4k gaming you need 6GB plus and i know the GTX 880 is coming with 8GB but i think that would be to much money

The two 780s would be faster than one Titan Black. As said above, the Titan Black is basically the 780Ti with more VRAM, a slight clock speed increase, and better double precision floating point computing capabilities. The extra VRAM will benefit a 4k display, and even if you were, you'd probably need two Titan Blacks in order to get decent game performance at that resolution.

I don't really play BF that much i play other games so what would you say is better titan black or two GTX 780's 6GB or wait for 880?

I would wait for the 880. And its the same story for most other modern games at 4k as well the tech is not quite there yet.

So you'd say get the two GTX 780's?

yes unless you can get two TITANs or just wait for the 880 (seems to be the better option)

Two R9 290Xs would be the better option, it runs hotter draws more power, but you will get better performance. If you keep your case well ventilated, and choose your cards carefully (good coolers, tri-x or vapor-x for example) this would be the best option.

But will two GTX 880's 4GB be good for 4k gaming?

But will two GTX 880's 4GB be good for 4k gaming? because i don't think i'll be able to get two GTX 880's 8GB and there coming out in a while so i'm not sure

I am not an Oracle, but I am pretty certain that sli 880s will be better than sli 780s even with only 4GB VRAM.

VRAM is important and all, but you need the muscle behind the GPU too and 780 is not that good really.

Also, I honestly think that 4K gaming is a bad idea at the moment... You pay top buck and in the end you make it just barely. I'd wait a year or two at least until real 4k capable hardware hits.

I think 1440p is the optimal stopping point for people who want both quality and decent performance.

Agreed - You'd better believe Nvidia is going to make sure their flagship Maxwell card can play at 4K, especially in SLI. And the GTX 880 has to be at least as powerful as a 780Ti or Titan Black.

And 4GB VRAM is enough for 8xMSAA in most games at Ultra - though it will kill your performance. IMO 4K only needs 2x or FXAA/SMAA.

Here's a set of benchmarks of 780Ti and Titan Blacks (and R9 290Xes) at 4K - should give you a good idea of the performance you can expect from today's most demanding games.
