Looking for some help on a CPU. I have all my other components but not sure what CPU to buy. I would appreciate any suggestions on either of these 2 CPU. Also note that I'm not really looking to OC since I'm just getting into PC gaming right now. Done with consoles.
Here are my other components:
MOBO - ASrock 970 Extreme3 R2.0
GPU - EVGA GTX 760 SC
PSU - EVGA 500 Watts Bronze
RAM - 8 GB (2 x 4GB) Crucial Ballistix Sport DD3 1600
Thanks for the help.

I'd recommend you to go for the AMD FX-8320 CPU if you can. It has 8 cores running at 3.5GHz (4.0GHz Turbo).
Later on, you can get a better CPU cooler (Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO for example) and OC it at 4,5GHz.
The AMD FX-6300 is a 6 core CPU, but it would also preform good. (Same thing like with the FX-8320, running at 3,5GHz but later on with a better CPU cooler you can OC it to 4,5GHz).

Well for light gaming an fx 6300 will do and you can overclock it later on. The 8 core will be better out of the box and allow you to utilize more GPU power down the road (gtx 760 wont make a diff here though as it's just a mid range card).

Do you have any other uses besides gaming? Animating? Editing? Rendering ?

The 8300 Series processors will be higher performance for a longer time period. It is worth the investment, but remember that both will require an upgraded heatsink. I love my AMD, but I wouldn't run it on a stock cooler. The 6000 Series stuff is good though, I don't mean to dishonor them at all.
