Permanent Damage Done to FX-8350?

Hi,
I've been running the FX-8350 at about 60-65*C for about a week when playing games (browsing was about 35*C) as I accidentally bought a below-par cooler. I also did a burn test and got to 80*C before it throttled and wouldn't go any higher. It was only at this temperature for a few minutes. I've now got a better cooler and it doesn't go over 53*C anymore.
Could I have done permanent damage to the chip/ shortened its life span? I really want this chip to last a long time.
Thanks.

Modern chips has internal thermal protection and 80C is nothing to worry about. Whether will it shorten the life span of the chip... how long do you consider is the lifespan of your chip? I'd say if 5 years is the useful lifespan of the chip there is nothing you should be worrying about unless you want going to OC the chip 24/7

Im sure it be fine Mine gets in the 80's when playing games, the optimal temp is around 62 degrees. I have the stock cooler so i should probably upgrade it someday but mines still running good, and if it was in 80 degrees for a short time it should be just as good.

It is fine. The max recommended temp by AMD is 62, and that is at load for long periods of time. It can handle much higher temps before damage, but the engineers probably have that temp in mind for good reason, and I think the people that actually build the CPU have a good grip on how it should run. Iwould not recommend a level of comfortability of being over 70C as others my have indicated..

53 is good. I have a 8320 oc'd to 4.2GHz with that cooler and get around 50C also.
