Hey guys, as the title says I'm thinking about building my first computer! I have about 1,000 dollars for just the computer itself.
I have a build myself, but I just want some second opinions or other considerations

CPU- xenon 1231 3.4ghz
MOBO- gigabyte ga-h97-d3h atx lga1150
MEMORY- g.skill ripjaws x series 8gb (2x4gb) ddr3-1600
STORAGE- crucial mx100 128gb 2.5" ssd
STORAGE- western digital caviar blue 1 TB 3.5" 7200 rpm IHD
VIDEO CARD- gigabyte raedon r9 280x 3gb windforce
CASE- nzxt phantom 240 atx mid tower
POWER SUPPLY- xfx 650w 80+ bronze certified semi-modular atx

Im thinking about not getting an optical drive but I don't think the extra like 20-30 from doing that can give me an upgrade or something.

I have a budget of 500 for a monitor/keyboard/mouse, but I don't necesarily have to spend it all lol

My most played games are League of Legends, WoW, Counter Strike GO, and civ 5, and I'm going to get far cry 4, if that helps.

Thanks!

System specs on newegg for r9 280x claim that it requires minimum 750w PSU...

...different manufacturers but same GPU. If you can't shell out more cash for a better PSU might want to ditch the SSD possibly

It does not require anywhere near 750 watts those requirements are assuming you bought a 20 dollar ebay psu that xfx 650 is way more than enough an xfx 550 would do the job in fact. Stick with the ssd.

I have some doubts about not having a ssd, I would appreciate the speed. On the other hand, that's a significant graphics upgrade. I'm probably going to just shell out the extra 80 for a ssd

Thanks guys

Yea get the 550w.... Inb4 OP's next thread in a few months is called "Why is my PC randomly rebooting/restarting. Is it not getting enough power?"

If it was me I'd spend a little extra on a higher wattage PSU and not have to worry about upgrading to a completely new PSU in the future... Because god forbid he ever upgrades anything, adds more drives, etc?
