Hello,

I have recently bought a tritton 720+ headset, and i'm having trouble getting decoder box installed. The installation guide said I had to run an optical cable from the box to my pc, but it never mentioned (or showed) where to put it. I probably need a soundcard, and i'd appreciate it if you guys can give some advice about what to buy to get this working.

The answer will depend on your PC, whether or not it has TOSLink optical out. What make and model do you have?
Also, it specifies that it also comes with a USB cable. Can you connect it to the PC with the USB cable instead?

As for the compatibility, I now have it installed with the regular green/pink mic and sound pins. That works fine, but tritton promises the quality will greatly improve If i use the decoder box

Usb would power it but i think you would still need something else like an optical audio cable or an aux cable to send the sound.

Hello,

What motherboard do you have? Maybe it has an SPDIF header and you could use something like this:

http://www.amazon.com/SPDIF-RCA-Plate-Cable-Bracket/dp/B0035J9Z7W/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1407272609&sr=8-1&keywords=spdif+bracket

Unfortunately it will not resolve anything; that adapter is used for combo plugs jack + optical, mainly in laptops and some audio cards (my Xonar DX has such an adapter).

Please go to a computer shop or local market, they should have such an adapter (ASUS motherboards usually came with SPDIF adapters).

If you cannot find an adapter, buy an audio card (internal or external, which suits you best).
