I just put together a new build with i7 cpu, ASUS 97K mb, Samsung SSD and EVGA 740 video card. Everything works great, but when I insert my data drive (WD 1tb 7200 SATA), Windows 7 seems to be searching for this drive to be the start up drive, or something. It now will take a long time to boot, and the WD does not show up when I go to "My Computer". I haven't looked in the device manager yet (just thought of this while I'm at work), but will check it out when I get home. This is my first build with the new BIOS screen, so I am not too familiar with it. Is there something I must configure for it to recognize this drive? Thanks in advance.

Go into BIOS and look for the boot startup drive sequence. You should see all your device drives there including a DVD/BD drive if you have one. Just move that list up to show the SSD as the primary boot drive, or boot device #1. If you do not see the WD hard drive, check your SATA cabling and switch SATA ports on the motherboard. I actually had a bad SATA port on my ASUS motherboard and the exact same thing happened. I switched ports and it worked fine.

Also back to the SSD, make sure you enable ACHI mode for it so it takes full use of SATA III and speeds. All of this information, including boot device sequence for the BIOS, should be referenced in the manual.
