i can get the poseidon for just a tiny bit less than the new regular ones would cost
and i can go and stresstest it before i buy etc.
- the crucial part - im pretty sure i won't watercool it... i already have a zalman cnps12x on my cpu
so investing all this money in a custom loop would be crazy... id rather get a 780ti or something
thoughts forum?

Solution
Get whichever is cheaper. If you DO decide to watercool, it'll save you the expense of buying a custom bracket.

I'd say poseidon since it doesn't change anything anyways since the fan is perfectly fine.

I may have gotten confused by your reply, please expand it :)

yes - the poseidon is 2nd hand... but its practically new... normally it costs a TON more than a standard 780,
i will probably go for the poseidon if everything works out, it's got nice power delivery and stuff
- so i figured if im gonna drop such money on a graphics card it better be built to last
i always get scared about the componentry on expensive cards,
but maybe that's just because i used to own a three year old gtx580 windforce that overclocked like a beast and the pcb had lost it's blue tone to a more brownish one!
i still have such warm feelings for that card ;)

I think the poseidon can still overclock very well on air too, but not as well as on water obviously, still, if you get it for cheap it should be a bargain :)
