Internet very slow! Is it my PCI adapter?? Please Help!

Hi. I just built my first pc, and just installed a new wireless Encore Electronics N150 PCI adapter. The internet is extremely slow. I know it's not my wifi because I also have a macbook, and the internet on it is very fast. My computer is about 50ft away from my modem/router (whatever it is :lol:) Does anyone know what the problem is? Thanks!

I know there is a crap load of troubleshooting you can run through but I'd exchange the adapter for another(if that's not too much trouble)

What does your signal strength indicator show? Under network and sharing, what mbps does your connection show its connecting at?

It has two bars. It has 1.0mbps.
