My motherboard has 4 dimm slots. Should I buy 4x2 or stick with a 2x4 ram. I read recently that utilizing all 4 slots can help improve performance instead of just using two. Thoughts? I am using a asrockz97 extreme 4 mobo
Depends on the board and if it is overclocked RAM. I know on AMD boards, it does better in 2 certain slots for overclocking the RAM as opposed to using all 4. It diverts the memory channels better or more or something to those two slots, so I went with 2x8GB 1866RAM.
