I'm thinking of upgrading my triple monitor setup by adding a 4K central monitor, whilst keeping the peripheral ones as standard 1080. I currently run an MSI R9 290X 4gb card, will this be able to run this set-up? (only want to play games on central monitor atm but want to know if it will just run them all or do i need to double down my GPU)

You'll probably want to get a second 290x if you want to game in 4K, even on one monitor. The card should be able to handle 60FPS but not on maximum at that resolution.

Thanks, i know i would need another one to play AAA titles on ultra in 4K, i just want to know if my current set up will allow for resolution that high when going across 3 monitors, one at 3840x2160, and two peripheral screens at 1920x1080, just being on desktop and using it as a PC

Your desktop will support USING them, but you most likely will not support GAMING on them.
