Hey there i recently changed my fans etc etc and now my PC is very very quiet. For example when i have a tv show or audio on its like the PC isn't there! At idle the loudest (or least quiet) component in my case may be the PSU. I am unsure about this as it is the sound of fan that is quiet but audible when the PC is idle. So... my question is, do you think the PSU is the noisiest or could it be the cumulative sound of all my fans? (6 in total including component fans). From what I can see the PSU does look a little dusty. Thanks in advance

I can honestly say I've never heard a PSU over all the other fans. It could be, but I doubt it.

Systems are only really as loud as their loudest fan. You could have 8 running all at the same time as I do and aside from general air pressure the main one you're going to hear is the loudest. Usually these are fans placed in areas of resistance, such as infront of drive cages where the air hits the metal.

Put your ear up to all the different sections you have fans and try to pin-point the loudest.

I couldn't really tell but I think it could be the power supply. Just out of interest, how loud should a air cooled pc be that is 1/4 metre away from you be?

It differs for everyone, what psu do you have? some psu's have been known to have loud noises under strain etc.

After some further examination, it isnt the power supply and instead i think it is just the cumulation of all fans and the computer processing itself. Thanks for the advice nonetheless
