    NO

Need at least a 42 amp on 12v rail power supply. So AT LEAST a 500w power supply. Reccomended 750w
  2. I wouldn't want to run a 400W psu with a gTX 780Ti with any cpu.
  3. A 400W PSU is NOT NEARLY ENOUGH for a 780ti.
    An i7 4790 is a good choice.
You will need at least a 550W PSU, though.
  4. You need at least 600W to run the 780Ti. The CPU won't make much difference.

Watts have nothing to do for it. He needs to look for at least 42 amps on the 12v rail.

So if I wanted to run say a 780 not the ti what CPU would I have to put in to make ok for a 400 watt

    Nothing over a R9 270X would work on a 400w psu

Watts certainly do have something to do with it! You are right, he needs at like 42 amps on the 12v rail, but that means he needs a minimum of 500W. 550 or above will work just fine.
  9. Even a gtx750Ti needs 430W

Get a good 600W psu from tiers 1,2a or 2b of http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-1804779/power-supply-unit-tier-list.html eg Seasonic 620, XFX650 or Antec HCG 620M to run your pc with a 770, 780 or 780ti in it.

    technically a 750 ti with a stock i7 and 8gb ram with a 1tb hard drive would only need 300w, but a stable 300w.
  11. 400W per RealHard Tech
  12. We'll it's and barebones kit with an sfx 450 watt power supply, sorry missed the 50 watts out. I recently watched a video where Linustechtips said you could put a gtx 780 and i7 4770k and not much else. So how close would it be or would down grading to a i5 4670k give me more room?
  13. NO! We have already told you many times already, 450W is not enough! I doesn't matter what CPU you use, the GPU needs more power than that!
  14. lol why would you downgrade a CPU because you're using an underpowered PSU? Just get a new quality 650Watt PSU...sheesh.

Dude I don't even have any of parts I am looking at getting a barebones kit which comes with the psu attached to the case

okay my statement remains..either don't get the barebones kit with the too low PSU, or buy the barebones kit and replace it.
  17. A barebones kit isn't a good match for a 780ti, anyway. It'll get too hot.

    Lemme guess. The ASROCK M8?
  19. Included psu's are crap quality.
  20. ^ Yep. Do not get a barebones kit for a high end build. Please. :)

not necessarily. max tdp for a graphics card in the asrock m8 is 200w, if you ask me, thats around a R9 280 or R9 270X
  22. Name one built-in psu that is good quality.

Quality is per tiers 1, 2a or 2b of http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-1804779/power-supply-unit-tier-list.html
