AMD Radeon HD 7870 (Tahiti LE) and AMD FX-4100 - do I upgrade my CPU or Graphics first?

I have these two pieces of hardware in my machine at the moment, which I do frequently use for gaming. However, quite annoyingly, I often experience lag, which I initially attribute to the settings being too high in-game, but sometimes still persist when I lower them. I am aware that the CPU is most likely bottlenecking the system, but I plan to move to a newer Intel CPU after this one, probably a Haswell i5 or i7. I do understand that it will be a lot more powerful than necessary to drive the game with respect to the GPU, but would I see a noticeable performance increase? At the moment I get GPU usage generally between 75-90, but it fluctuates a lot. And vice-versa, would I see any performance gain from upgrading the GPU first and waiting to upgrade my CPU later?

Thank you very much for your time.

Get a I5 you will notice a big jump in gaming even a 6350 would be a nice boost or a 8320fx the 4100 is a big joke being bulldozer its 10% slower per clock compared to piledriver and its not even clocked high. If you didn't want to spend a lot of money just get a 8320+212 coolermaster heat-sink and overclock, my personal experience with my 8350fx i just got was a nice improvement to my gaming experience even more so in Watch dogs-Far cry 3-Sim city i did not expect much improvement from my old and trusty 1100T at 3.9Ghz but i did and my 8350fx is only clocked at 4.3Ghz.

If the OP's motherboard is decent, the 8320 would be a relatively cheap and easy upgrade.
