Monoprice MPLE27QPM 1440p monitor showing max resolution as 1080p

Title says it. I have intel 4600 graphics atm which should support 1440p so i don't understand why this is happening. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks

your gpu probably is not strong enough but anyway. It might be default be set to 1080p try to get into display settings.

intel 4600 shouldnt support 1440p to be completley honest (if your gaming) if your just using as a house desktop there was no need for 1440p haha, but have you checked if the integrated graphics output 1440p!

yeah the i highly doubt the hd 4600 will support 4k or game on it it can barely play 1080p 30fps. Also save yourself some money and get a r9 280x with extra vram that can HANDLE 1440p+ more vram is better for higher resolutions or get a r9 290 for 369$ it has 4gb vram, is way stronger than a gtx 770, and will play 4k.

I get watchdogs ac4 and splintercell. All of these games still cost $60 plus nvidia beats amd any day. Amd is only around because of any monopoly laws

wso your biased towards nvidia. Its true in the high end market the 780ti beats the r9 290x by 5-7fps or 13%. However nvidia prices are unreasonably high for the lacking performance the r9 270 is a gtx 760 just a 100$ less, the gtx 770 usually cost 330$ and the r9 290 around 369$ yet it has 16% better performance or 10-50fps(depending on the game/resolution)

It's not just the performance. Amd drivers are supposed to be buggy and the cards don't last as long. I kind of over did it, but I think since I have an intel cpu, a nvidia gpu would be a better choice. It's just a matter of what you are looking for. Amd cards have higher clocks, but nvidia cards are better compatible with more games

The reference cards go to 90c the new cards can sit in the 50-70c range which is perfect for a gpu.

Just to clear things up: Meanwhile I found the solution: The Intel HD4600 isn't the issue, for all I know it can output 4K just fine via HDMi (but not via DVI). However the Dell U2713HM will only accept resolutions of up to 1080p via HDMi, for larger resolutions like the native 2560 x 1440 you'll need to use DVI or DisplayPort. This is of course a problem with the output specifications of my mini ITX Board, which is why I went for a small dedicated Geforce GPU which gives me 2560 x 1440 via DVI just fine. It's kind of a sad state though - my Gigabyte board has 2 HDMI and 1 DVI out and all of them are useless - at least with this very Dell display. And don't bother with Pre-Haswell boards either, I was shocked to learn that larger than 1080p is quite a new thing for onboard GPUs.

THat said be sure to double check your display and mainboard specifications. Or if it's too late already, buy a cheap dedicated GPU.

I only have hdmi on my micro atx mobo so I will just wait until I get the gpu before I output to 1440p
