Hey all thanks for your time, trying to figure out which intel cpu is the best for my rig. I have a cooler master Storm Trooper case, ASUS Maximus VI Hero intel Z87 1150. I have about 250 to spend give or take 60 or so lol, but any I save on the cpu I can put towards a video card. So I will have dual monitor gaming set up, playing mostly League of legends, battlefield and any other newer games coming out. I want it to be able to last a couple years before having to replace it
Looking at the i7
4790k
4820k
4790s
i 5
4590s
4690k
I was trying to figure out the difference s and k, didnt find out much tonight. Any info advise would be great thanks again.

4790k is the best out of that lot (4820k arguable but is a gen older and different platform) K is overclockable chips while S are lower power variants (have a lower base clock speed)

for value though id get the i5 4690k, its overlcokable and has the improved tim under the IHS, it will perform pretty similar to the 4790k in most applications ( with a little bit of overclocking, which you will need a better than stock cpu cooler... I recommend hyper 212 evo as good budget cooler)

for gaming only, i wouldn't look beyond an i5-4690K

The "K" are overclockable versions.
The "S" are low voltage versions.
If you have about $250 to spend, look for a i5-4690K.
It is the best gaming chip.
The i7-4790K will cost $100 more. It is better binned and has hyperthreading.

The 4820K is lga2011.

The 4690k is a recommended value CPU for gaming and the 4790k is geared towards extreme gaming as well as rendering and editing video and audio studio programs. The 4820k is binned as an unlocked Xeon CPU on a workstation platform.

Normally I wouldn't even look at the 4790k but its on sale for 100 off right now and thr 4690k is $199. I didnt even realize that the 4820k was a different chipset woops,
What does it mean when its "better binned and hyper threaded"?
Thanks again guys

better binned? I guess you could say its a higher quality chip... usually means it can handle higher clockspeeds at lower voltages than a lower binned chip...

Hyper threading? im no expert on this but the way I understand this is that its advanced scheduling that makes use of idle processor time to handle a 2nd thread where a non hyper threading hip would be doing nothing (thus enabling it to have 4c/8th ( as I said im no expert, this is just how I understand it)
