Hello guys I just recently built my first pc and for some reason I'm flipping out over if I seated nh d15 cpu cooler properly. I idle around 32 load 50-60 but when i stress tested using prime 95 for about 7 minutes it reaches 85 and I turned it off are the temps ok or should I just reapply just in case?

...I'd say that's a bit warm. I'm cooling a Xeon E3-1240v3 with a Noctua U12S which is quite a bit smaller than your D15, and Prime95's small FFT test tops it out at 60-62 degrees. It's even stuck sideways in a mini-ITX case, sucking against a video card and blowing into the solid side panel.

I'd say something needs either reconfigured or reseated. I'm assuming you have a front intake and at least a rear exhaust? The heatsink is mounted down with both mounting screws tightened down against their springs?
