I have just built a small office PC using the following:
Silverstone mini FT03 case,
Gigabyte F2A88XN wifi board
AMD A10 6700 GPU
8Gb GSkill Ram
Kingston 60Gb SSD
WD 1TB HDD
LG Slim optical drive
Silverstone SFX 300w Bronze PSU
Corsair H55 Cooler.

Its a very neat an compact system runnig Win 7 64bit, and works well most, if not all of the time.
Connected by DVI to a samsung monitor.
On two occasions now, when its been left on for a while, say over an hour, the monitor has gone to sleep, but the pc is still running, the HD light full on no flickering, and the monitor not coming on when using the mouse or keyboard. Initially, i thought it had gone into sleep mode, but the pc fan is still running and hd light permanently on.

I tried to power off but there was no response to pressing the power button or reset button.
I was only able to power off by using the switch on the PSU

I have looked at temps in the bios but cpu temp is around 42-45 oC

also, not sure if this is related but I am now unable to open "EASYTUNE 6" for the mobo.

btw, the power button is configured to sleep on 1 press, and power off when pressed for 4 secs or more.
Any ideas?

Thanks

PAUL

Check if allow this device to wake the computer is checked in Device Manager.
1. Click Start, type Device manager in the Start search box and hit Enter.
2. Select keyboard, it will display your keyboard, right click and select ‘Properties’.
3. Select the ‘Power management’ tab.
4. Check the “Allow this device to wake the computer” check box.
5. Repeat these steps for Mouse and Network adapters as well.

the mouse was allowed to power on, and it does work when in sleep mode.
the keyboard was not enabled, but is now
the network adapter, I have changed to allow on when magic packet detected, I assume this will stop it coming on always when it is in sleep?

thanks

ok put in sleep mode via start, and keyboard and mouse woke pc up.
tried power button 1 press and it shut it down, even though bios setting is press once for sleep, and 4 secs for shutdown.
is my power button connected incorrectly, and if so would it cause this problem?

also the reset switch restarts the pc but on the "Windows error recovery" page. Is it supposed to do this?

see if this helps or not....

Open Power Options by clicking the Start button Picture of the Start button, clicking Control Panel, clicking System and Security, and then clicking Power Options.

On the Select a power plan page, in the left pane, click Choose what the power buttons do.

On the Define power buttons and turn on password protection page, next to When I press the power button, choose what you want your computer to do when you press the power button. save settings

Right that sorted out the power button, so it now set to sleep with one press, so that seems sorted now.
I have also set hard drives to go to sleep after 20 min too.

Is this related to the problem I was having originally - ie being unable to shutdown?
Whilst I'm here, i hace set order of boot in bios for SSD then HDD, but it keeps changing order to optical then ssd.

I confirm this in the settings but when on the "saving page" in bios there is a message saying "boot order has been changed" with opt 1, then ssd.
if it helps FW is F1, there is F4 available, but having problems updating as keep getting error saying "@bios needs updating" although there seems to be no newer version on the gigabyte website?

Thanks

Right, no problems with PC until just now, when the screen just went to sleep, and the PC was unresponsive, with fan going, power light on, with the power and reset button unresponsive.
I did notice the red optical plug light was off, so does this suggest a problem with the MB?

Right,. this is really doing my head in now. Thinking it was a faulty PSU, i swapped out the existing for a new Silverstone SFX PSU - problem still exists, although took a few hours to start acting up ie restarting, freezing and now Blue screen with various errors on!
I have changed the MB after the advice from Gigabyte, same model.
System stable for a day and now it is just freezing or restarting!

I have not much hair left now and will proably go bald if I cannot sort this

Any help much appreciated

Thanks
