Hi
We pay for a top of the line internet connection that delivers 1.7mb> download and 20kb/s upload speed (real world performance)
Over the last few months and very recently online gaming and using Skype has become almost impossible due to the terrible upload speed. I get insane ping spikes (normally I get 50 ping, I spike up to 1000+) and constantly disconnect from Skype (audio calls, no video). However this only happens when a certain iMac is on. When it is put to sleep or turned off I never get any of these problems.
I was just wondering if anyone had any idea of why this was occurring. My ping becomes stable litterally right after I turn that mac off. However it's my dads and he is constantly using it for work, so turning it off when I want to use skype or play games isn't really an option.
Our router is a bigpond Technicolor TG587n v3 and my personal computer is a custom built pc connected directly to the router via ethernet. The iMac is connected via wireless.
Thanks for any help or suggestions.
