Need Advice on Upgrading GPU on old Computers

Hi, Guys i need an advice my pc is a bit too old and i am not a pc gamer i play games on my console but i play games like War thunder,Company of heroes and games like Tropico etc i am planning to upgrade my GPU from gt 220 to GTX 750 i just want to know is my pc is capable enough to handle it.
My pc specs:-
Psu 400W
Cpu Dual core E5400
Ram 4gb
Motherboard G31m-s

I agree with Jcomptech. Especially since your running a dual core processor. I have both the 740 and 750 cards. And when I put both of them into my work computer (which is a dual core) I had the exact same fps (40fps). when I put the two cards in my cpu at home (which is a hyperthreaded quad core), I got 40 fps on the 740 card (the same as when it was in my work comp), and 180 fps with the 750 card thus eliminating the bottle neck.

Im not sure you will get any more performance buying the 750, and the 750 requires the extra power cable to the psu

oop sorry, that should be more than enough, the nvidia website recommend 300w, and you have 400w, so that'll be okay, and your motherboard has a pcie x16 slot too so it should be okay, but I'm not sure if it's pcie x16 2.0 or 3.0

Does it matter if its 2.0 or 3.0 and its totally compatible right

On your specs for your motehrboard it doesn't say, worst case scenario, it's a pcie 16 1.0, which will cause bottleneck, but if it's either a pcie 2.0 or 3.0, there isn't much difference between them both really, just make sure it's not a pcie 1.0

If gaming isnt a priority on your computer, I think the GT 740 will suit you just fine for right now. Otherwise if you plan on gaming more, upgrade to the 750. The GT 740 will play those games on medium to high settings. Mostly high. It is a bit cheaper than the 750 buy 20 bucks. The Gt 740 would be just fine for you. It may be out of date but can still be used for a few years, considering the usage of your computer.
