I am planning to get a thermaltake tr2-r1 cpu fan for my gaming pc. here are some specs.

AMD FX Unlocked quad core 3.8 ghz
125 watts

I know 125 watts is a lot, and what i really need to know is what is the maximum amount of watts in a processor that the fan can compensate for? because i don't want to damage my cpu from overheating.

That cooler is nothing special, in fact, I doubt it will perform much better than AMD's own one.

Nobody can tell you how many watts a fan can compensate for; it's not measured that way. Wattage does contribute to heat, but ambient temperature is a far more important factor. You can have the best cooler in the world, but it's no good if you live in the tropics.

I wouldn't bother with that cooler, get a Cooler Master 212 Evo instead. The price/performance ratio is hard to beat.

Get the CoolerMaster 212 Evo it's for minimum overclocking if you're thinking much serious you should get the H100i. The evo runs at 1600 rpm and it has the option of making a push & pull configuration
