I'm attempting to connect a video processor (eeColor ) to my recently built computer that uses a MIS Z97-Gaming 5 motherboard. Using Windows 7 64 bit.

I've read on some systems, you can go into the bios and change something such that all usb ports are 2.0. I've been unable to find it and am asking for help to figure out what to turn off. The only thing that I thought I found that should work was a USB 3 hardware controller. Unfortunately, when I disabled it, all ports USB 2 and 3 quit working. I was expecting the 3.0 ports to behave as 2.0 ports.

I'm speculating that even the ports that are suppose to be 2.0 are not.

Thanks in advance.

USB is backwards compatible. A USB 2.0 device should work fine in a USB3.0 port.

Why are you trying to do it?

USB 3.0 ports physically have 5 extra contacts. If you remove these (or use a USB2.0 extension cable), the port should automatically negotiate down to USB 2.0.
