New to overclocking, though I get the overall jist. However, editing through the BIOS using ASRock's interface is slightly confusing. I used the built in boost to 4.2 GHz and ran tests and it is stable. However I would like to safety overclock to 4.5, though don't know which settings I have to change manually.

Everywhere I looked did it using a different interface and I didn't want to mess it up, thanks in advance.

Document, backup, and take little steps.

Working through bios is generally the best approach - though there are some MB utiltites that can do this as well.

You need to ask yourself what you want out of overclocking - also do you have the airflow and cooling that this will require.

I just want more CPU power for gaming and applications I use. And I have a cooler master 212 evo.

My advice is don't go into this expecting a lot. I have been disappointed by my 4770k as have a lot of others. I can run at 4.4ghz and 1.21 V but getting to 4.5ghz? Forget about it. 1.3V and climbing and still not stable. Let alone 20 degree celcius difference between cores. Some shocking quality control is all I have found so far.

To help you with your issue though, just google all your controls before you start. Make sure your bios is up to date and read a lot about what each control achieves and what each's limits are. Never exceed any limits and you will never have anything to worry about.
