My experience with laptops less than $900, as yours is, has been that they only have SATA II capacity on the motherboard. That means that you will get typically around 200 - 230 MB/second read throughput on an SSD, not the 350-400 MB/second that you could get with a SATA III port. However, it's still a lot better than the typical 70-80 MB/second of most laptop HDDs.

[EDIT]

I have found it very hard to determine whether laptops have SATA III capability. I only found out on one of my Dells because I chatted with someone with Dell's on-line chat support and specifically asked that question up-front. The guy had to go look it up. For some reason laptop companies don't make that information easily available.

I could find nothing on the web about an "Intel QFKAA Motherboard". That's not a valid brand and part number, so I can't help you there. You'll probably have to contact Toshiba if you want a definitive answer that badly.
