If I buy a new haswell-e processor soon will I be able to use it without GPU?

Because it's really expensive and I don't think I will have enough money to buy the gpu immediately.

Thanks in advance :)

Nope extreme edition CPUs have no integrated GPU they require a seprete GPU. Maybe try a super cheap low profile GPU for 30-40$ just to get by until you can buy a beast gpu

With high price tags and even higher latency resulting in less performance than DDR3. And a much worse price/performance ratio than DDR3. It will be several months after the launch of DDR4 that there will be kits which will give you higher performance, it might be even longer as most mainstream motherboard will still be supporting DDR3 so MFGR's might not initially spend alot of money on DDR4.

So are you suggesting that I should buy ddr3 ram now? Because If i do I will be one generation behind already. And I also know that at first ddr4 rams will be expensive. What should I do?

HELP!!! :(

I personally just spent 550€ on upgrading my pc.
I7 4790k, 16 gb ram and a z97 mobo.
I could have went with the I7 4960x but it's socket is old and the price/performance ratio is much better on the I7 4790k.
I could have also been waiting half a year, but when DDR4 and X99 first come out, they will be fairly overpriced. I don't see myself paying 1000€ for a cpu, 400€ for 16gb of ram and 300€ on a motherboard. The performance increase might be strong, but the current generation should be strong for 5-6 years, too.

You dont know that its going to be less performance just by looking at the latency figures, wait and see..

I was upgrading mine after 8 years, from high end to high end. I can tell you, you feel the difference on the first launch. It's ridiculous, especially cpu intensive workouts seem to go 10x faster.

Hahaha I can't wait man. That's why I am going to go directly to next generation.

Will broadwell support DDR4 ram?

Broadwell isn't a thing for desktops first, and if it becomes, it's probably not what you're looking for. You're looking into Haswell-E on the X99 platform, which supports DDR4 RAM.

I just saw some DDR4 preorder prices, you're looking at 400£ for a 32GB kit, which is 500€ or 640$.

Wow, There's no way i'm spending that much money on ram. What is the source btw? From what i've heard DDR4 isn't out yet right? Is it a rumor?

i7 4790 for me then :(  But I will definitely wait for gtx 800 series :)

Just wait a while, once production ramps up then DDR 4 will get cheaper and DDR 3 will get more expensive, its the way it always goes.

I've waited NINE years lol.

Anyway I'll follow you people's advice. Let's just wait for a month. Everything will be more clear then.

Ram will come out Q3-Q4 this year, so you might have to wait up to 3 and a half months. There is preordering for Crucial DDR4 Ram possible.

Edit: It's actually up to 600 GBP for 32gb.

Well, It's pre order. Something that isn't on market right now or exclusive like that going to be expensive. If another 3-4 months can give me a whole new generation that I should wait.

Thanks you again for helping :)

Yeah, prices are obviously going to drop quite a lot at start.
