Hey guys, thought i would throw this out there to get some ideas. Looking into building a new Rig strictly for gaming, pretty much nothing else.

Wanted to see what some of your thoughts are and how they compared to what I selected. I reside in the US. and my budget is around $1500.

So if anyone has any spare time and wants to throw together a quick list and why you choose those items will be greatly appreciated.

Reasons for my choices : Nothing beats an I5 in gaming , even the 1000$ Processors don't provide a huge edge over an i5 or even a slight one . The 290X is a very reliable card and the tri-X version has some great coolers and since its strictly gaming based then this one will give you a good gaming experience with less money. XFX Make very reliable PSU ( Made by Seasonic ) and the 750W version is more than enough. Liquid Cooling is personal preference but If you are OCing then it will turn out to be nice.

You do not need a 290X. That is way overkill for 1080p!!

He didn't say I'll use it for 1080p and in 3 years time it will be worth it . You pay 550$ now and get great performance for the next 3 years while if you went for a cheaper card in a 1500$ Build you'll end up throwing what you already have 2 years later and buy a new 300$ GPU. The 290X will stand the test of time.

Well i am looking for some sort of "future proofing" I had my eye on the 780ti. Thoughts? Just seems like such an expense really.

The 780Ti is very expensive but if it fits within your budget then You can grab it and not worry about any graphics issues for the next 4 years

My same build with the 780Ti instead of the 290X/No OS will cost exactly $1539.10

Made some changes, what do you think? Still no reason to jump to an I7 eh?

Good Build , If you're only gonna game on it there's no reason to go 16 GB of ram though . You might wanna save those 70 bucks and invest in a new 144 Hz monitor

Also why that ASUS board over something like the MSI gaming5 or the ASrock extreme 4 both Z97?
