OK guys, ive trawled the forums and the googles and still cant seem to come to a good conclusion for myself!

Looking to upgrade my 660 Ti to something that will be better suited for gaming these days. Will only be running single monitor at 1080p.

My budget is around £300/$500. I was looking at GTX 770s.

Cheers.

For 300 quid, guv, you can't do better than the Sapphire Tri-X R9 290, ain't that right, Trigger? Look, I've got a couple in the van, it's just outside, RODNEY! ;)
Couple of points, and without the 'Fools and Horses' bits;
The Tri-X is very large, check it'll fit your system case.
It matches, or exceeds the GTX780 in performance and carries 4Gb of onboard memory but it draws plenty of juice and DEMANDS good case ventilation.
Like all high end cards, it'll also need a strong CPU to keep it fed with data.

^There is that option, rumours suggest the new Nvidia Maxwell cored cards MAY be getting released sooner than expected, or they MAY be released October/November time.
If you can wait, it may be wise to do so, but expect the new cards to come with a price premium on release and supplies to be limited for a while.
Depending on price/performance/availability it's possible AMD MAY drop prices or change their game bundles but it's impossible to tell for sure what WILL happen.
Right now, in the UK, the R9 290 has the best price/performance for around £300 though.
