DVI Splitter - Can I plug it into my monitor and split that from there rather from the input on the back of my PC?

I am currently running dual monitors and have to alternate my DVI cable from my main monitor to my TV whenever I want to watch anything on there. I currently have a DVI to VGA on one monitor and the other is HDMI to DVI. I was wondering if I could use the splitter on the back of my monitor and then run the HDMI to DVI and put that into one of the two splits and a DVI to DVI into my TV on the other split therefore cloning my main monitor onto my TV. Rather than putting the splitter on the back of the PC.. (as this means ill have to try and find a new longer DVI cable and a HDMI to DVI splitter which I dont even know if they exist)? I know it's confusing.. haha I just wanted to see before I buy and then get disappointed.

Solution

No, in the back of the PC.

DVI->VGA for one monitor
HDMI -> DVI+DVI for the other monitor and TV
