n00b ALERT!!!

Hi guys ,
I'm planning an upgrade for my rig..
I will replace the locked i5-4670 with an i7-4790K in a few days , and I have some questions. This is the first rig that I have done from scratch by myself,so excuse me if my questions seem a little stupid to all of you that are more knowledgeable than me..
First of all , I'm going to put the new cpu in my "old" mobo" :
Gigabyte GA-Z87M-D3H (rev. 1.x)

http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=4486#ov

which according to this :

http://www.gigabyte.us/support-downloads/cpu-support-popup.aspx?pid=4486

there will be no compatibility problems , since I already have done the BIOS update , and have the latest F10 BIOS.
Does anybody run Devil's Canyon on Z87 chipset problem free?
And my n00best question:
Will I be required to do a new OS install after I install the new chip?

Any input would be highly appreciated!!

No. If you have any modern OS (I.E. you're not running VISTA) then you should be fine when changing the CPU. It'll take a while to boot up but you should be fine, plus it's on the same architecture so there shouldn't be problems.

If you've done all the BIOS updates then there really should not be any problems with the 4790k. If there are, replace the 4670k and then try again.

Thank you for all the quick replies

@Ytyoussef
The thing is that the 4670 is locked and I'd like to give a shot at overclocking again(last time I was into these things,it was at LGA775 socket)
The chip won't go to waste-I'm keeping it for a HTPC build I'm planning for my new living room in the future..
Plus the 4790K is only about 10 euros more expensive in my country than the 4770K so I thought of going with it.

Here is the specs of my rig:
intel i5-4670
Gigabyte GA-Z87M-D3H
16Gb Corsair Vengeance pro
Sapphire Vapor-X 290 4Gb

I wish that everything goes well indeed..
Again thanks everyone for the quick responses,
I'll pick the first post for my solution since everybody here agrees that I won't have a problem.
Cheers..
