Mobile App Setup and Server Questions

Hi,

I am using a developer on Elance to build a native mobile app for my business. It is a fairly simpl4 truck ordering app: our customer can order a service truck with the app, a request is sent to our admin’s backend user interface, the admin will dispatch a truck, the customer then receives a confirmation and is able to track the location of the truck in real-time.

I realize that I will need a server to communicate info between backend interface and customer interface, to store customer’s past service request data, and also for tracking of the truck’s location.

I don’t plan on getting using dedicated server hardware, but would rather use a “rental” server like Amazon Web Services.

My question:

- Is Amazon Web Services suitable for the app I have described? Any other solutions you can suggest?
- Once it is developed, what can I expect to receive from the developer (source code etc.) and how do I then get the app up and running?
- Will I distribute the app via the app store, or on a case-by-case basis directly to the customer?

Basically, I can't find any info about the steps I'll need to take once I receive the developer's deliverables.

Other info that may be important: there will likely be less than 100 users for the app in the early stages. These users are in remote areas with no wifi and patchy cell-coverage.

I am new to this world, but I believe this app has the potential to help my startup succeed. Your detailed explanations are highly valued!

Thanks!
