I know this frustrating topic has probably been asked a million times, but I have yet to find a suitable solution to the problem.

I had a MSI HD7770 and recently upgraded to a R9 270x. I wiped my PC to get rid of all the drivers and installed the 270x. It booted up the first time and was working for a few minutes, but then went to a green vertical striped screen. It was stuck on the green stripes so then I was forced to reboot. Once it rebooted it took me to the windows login screen (like it should), but the image was tearing and looked glitchy. So once again I rebooted, but now it just boots up to a black screen. No MSI logo or windows logo...just black.

Hopefully someone can help me out! Thanks!

SPECS:
Windows 7-64bit
MSI 970A-G45 Motherboard
CORSAIR Vengeance 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 RAM
AMD FX-6300 Six Core CPU
ENERMAX Noisetaker II EG701AX VE(W) SFMA 600W ATX12V PSU

It could be bad gpu or even a bad monitor.Try reinstalling your 270x maybe you didnt put it all the way in the pci slot.If it still doesnt work try using your 7770 or any other graphics card that you know perfectly worksl. If it still doesnt work than the problem is somewhere else

Monitor is fine and the old 7770 work fine as well.

Looks Like you've got yourself a Faulty card , It happens even to the best of us . Best Case scenario is to try and boot in safe mode and try a fresh install of the 270X drivers for the website. If you've already done that then most probably the card is bad.

Bad 270x then contact your graphics card manufacture(not amd, someone like msi asus etc.)or the place where you bought it(if you can return it there) from and return the card.

Try booting with your 7770 reinstalled. Also, can you try the card in a friends machine?

I am not crazy about your PSU. They are known to go bad quite often.

the HD7770 works like previously stated. Would any stores be able to test it the card out for me? I have the newest drivers installed and still nothing worked. PSU has been working like a charm all its life. Wouldn't the computer just not to turn if it was a PSU problem? Why would the video just not work?

The 7770 Doesn't require as much power as the newer card. The PSU isn't the best TBH but we're just trying to do the simple troubleshooting test. Some stores would accept to try it but I am not really sure about stores in your Area.

You think any of the big box stores would try it? Micro Center, Best Buy, etc.

So it definitely is not any kind of software issue?

Alright the problem might be with your Motherboard as well , MSI Motherboards aren't the greatest and can cause these sorts of problems. I don't think its software related though
