Get through 1 brick wall and hit another, that describes my experience when building my first PC .

Ok so the order in the title is what I get, and it says that I have no drivers to install...Do I need to transfer something in a USB or something? I'm installing windows 8.1 OEM from my CD.

Solution
Yup. Its not seeing the HDD. I came across this on another forum actually :p the user had to re install. he entered the key began setup and bang no drivers lol went to bios all was well ran GPARTED and it reported something like 390 bad sectors and 10000+ CRC errors and a bunch of other issues. I would say make a UBCD or Gparted USB and run the HDD diagnostics as i am 99.1 % sure that is the reason.

You can try slip lining the drivers it want's into an image on another computer but that only works at the time of installation it will install the drivers with windows. BTW if you don't mind me asking which drivers is it looking for.

I chose windows 8 for better performance in games and more long term support. I'm trying to install windows now, this is like right after entering the product code.
I'm not sure what drivers it is looking for, It just says select drivers to install .

Try copying the files to a usb stick and installing from usb (2.0) that may get passed the issue. I seem to remember an issue with some custom builds when windows 8 first came on the market where it would allow users to enter the key and then give a blank "select drivers to install" page. That was the fix then so maybe it will work now?

Ok so when Windows 8 is done installing and I'm at the select media option then I should create ISO File which would allow me to make the USB bootable using rufus right?
not USB flash drive when selecting media right?

if its setting up windows that is good as it means it re installed its just going through the process again. This time though with any luck it will not ask for the drivers. The post above the last on where you think you messed it up did anything weird happen aside for the acer logo taking a longer time (this is normal). This is re installing windows as if it were new though so it will have to set up and re install core drivers and the key will have to be re entered. Sorry about the lapse in responses as well I am at work and helping figure out the solution as well :)

That seems weird yes. I wonder if it is a possible incompatibility with the video controller as it was asking you for drivers the first time and now after re installing you have this issue. How old is the PC. I've seen some that originally had windows XP install windows 8.1 but at the same time though it was a 32 bit version that was installed. I have also seen some who came with windows 7 not having the ability to handle windows 8. Take the HP Pavilion G6 1D44CA for example that notebooks SATA controller is not supported in windows 8.1 so on every shutdown, restart, sleep, etc the pc crashed and reported an HDD failure or the C:/ drive would randomly dissapear and cause the PC to hang and reboot. It does seem possible though that (depending on the age and the type of os be installed) that could very well be the case. Out of curiosity what are the specs of the PC eg CPU, HDD, RAM, Graphics.

If I understand correctly you are testing windows install with the old PC and then want to use the install media with your new PC. If so you should be good to install as most if not all new PCs support windows 8.

The problem is, I think that I just wasted the OEM on my old laptop, Since it sent me to a new, blank desktop on my old laptop(as well as setting up windows 8.1...but on my old laptop). I want to install windows 8 on my new PC using media Yes, My old Laptop is prob 3 years old my new PC specs are Z97 Extreme 4, I5 4960K, Seagate 1 TB, 8GB Crucial, EVGA GTX 760 SC

Your new one will definitely install it. As for your old one I want to say it may have a hardware fault GPU or HDD because all the hardware should technically be good for windows 8 even at that age. If you really want it on your laptop you can try from inside windows itself by either A restoring to the OEM installed OS or B installing a downloaded version of windows 7. Does not have to be activated as the installer will ask for the new key while installing windows 8. At least doing it that way you will be able to see if there are any incompatibilities or if there is any faulty hardware. On that note as well when you install windows 8 on one of the computers the key can only be used to activate 1 PC so if you use the key to activate on a second PC the other one will deactivate if windows accepts it.

Yeah windows 8.1 is on my old laptop. I fixed the flashing by taking out the USB, My old Laptop already had windows 8.1 installed and now I just re-installed it there by using the OEM that I wanted on my New PC on accident lol. So I did mess up the OEM, Now I don't think I can use it on my new PC.

Now I don't have anyway of putting windows on my New PC without buying windows again?

Ok so I copied the windows 8 ISO to USB, Put it in my new PC, Entered in the product code and it shockingly worked. One thing to note when it says where do you want to install drivers I don't have any options, which is weird considering my UEIF recognizes my HDD just well. It also takes me back to the blank driver install page so no progress made lol.

Hmm I will dig around and see what I can find. There has to be a fix for this. It could also be a bug within the image itself. Usually I don't condone this however I would say that the situation requires it. This is an RTM release of all builds for 8.1 I would say try one of these. You will have to use the corresponding key to install and then insert your windows key after though. I know this to work as I have used the ISO before (I had the ev preview and bumped up to the rtm build). Try the ISO from this file if it fails there is definitely an issue with the hardware and maintenance will need to be done on the PC.

Yes, it has a blue line in it asleast. My Mouse and Keyboard are plugged into the same type and work just fine. And when I go into the UEFI it does show the USB as a boot option
