Hey guys, I'm going to be performing an upgrade on my current computer and I've hit a wall.

First off, I plan on Gaming as well as having the ability to stream. I don't think I'll be doing any video editing or music production.

Now for what I know:
-LGA1150 4790k (4-core 8 thread) is unlocked and can be overclock to crazy speeds and is stable. Has only enough PCI-E lanes to make 1 GPU run at full x16. 32GB of Ram Supported, Devil's Canyon, way cheaper to build.

-LGA2011 4930k (6-core 12-thread) has more PCI-E 3.0 Lanes to support true SLI x16, Quad-Channel Memory, 64gb of total RAM, Double the Price as a 4790k.

Now I'm looking for a Motherboard, CPU Liquid Cooler, and Memory to go with my EVGA 780Ti.

I'm mainly going to use this computer for gaming and streaming. Help me out here please!

Thanks!

For what you are doing I'g go with the 4790k. No reason to spend all that extra money on the 4930k.

That's what I was thinking, but I'm also trying to keep this build up to date for at least 2 years (That's when I usually upgrade anyways). So I mean, I don't mind spending the extra money, but if the 1150 will be able to keep the next gen games, (IE: Unreal 4 Engine), at bay for 2 years, I will do that and save money. I just don't want to buy it and not be able to run a game at max a year later like what happened with my latest AMD build.

Secure me for the future! Let me know your thoughts.

**EDIT** Also, please link me a good motherboard/ram for the LGA 1150 and 2011s as I am at a loss for what manufacture is top in the Intel world haha.

No reason to get LGA 2011 when it's about a month from being discontinued. It will be replaced with a new socket and motherboard chipset called X99 which should be due out at the end of September. For gaming you always want to focus more on spending more of your budget on graphics and less on the motherboard and CPU.

"True CF/SLI" works perfectly fine over PCIE 3.0 x8; GPUs and games are not at a point where this is a significant issue yet... maybe another two or three years but PCIE 4.0 will be out by then.

If you are planning to change PCs every two years then there really is no point in over-thinking and over-building it... save the extra cash for your next system two years down the road.

Even a "lesser system" built around the i7-4790k will last most people a good 4-5 years.

Well I plan on picking up a EVGA GTX 780Ti Dual Classified as my graphics card so I'm more than prepared to spend a pretty penny on graphics. I'm coming from an AMD build with a HD 7970.

This is true and I have heard nothing but good things about the 4790 and its ability to provide full lanes to a single PCI-E 3.0 x16. I might have to talk to my friend at intel and hopefully get me a good deal.

Thanks for the input as well guys, its really appreciated. Ok so its a 1150 for sure, now if you could tell me the difference between the two motherboards above, I think I can close this case and checkout of newegg haha.

$400 for a motherboard is mega overkill. You could spend 1/2 of that on something like this and it does almost exactly the same job: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

I have that same board and it works great.

like said the x79 mobo is being phased out for a x99 mobo with ddr4 ram. I think if you want the biggest and baddest wait for the 5930k and some ddr4 ram. The 4790k is great and with the Hyperthreading may be more secured for the future.

Well I'm not interested in the X99 because it will be buggy. Especially with DDR4. And the price on those processors is scary...I haven't even seen an X99 Mobo price yet or DDR4... I mean I did hear that intel was making a Broadwell CPU for the 1150 sockets as well to kind of carry on that bloodline of mobos. If that's the case, I would be interested down the road but not at this point in time.

Arrow lists 16GB DDR4 kits at $300-350, which is about double the price of typical DDR3 kits.

i know the prices are insane right now. I recommend you get a good z97 mobo and then upgrade to broadwell which is out this fall or just wait this fall for the broadwell chips.
