I cant figure out how to transfer my water cooler to a new board

My antec kuhler 620 doesnt work on my new motherboard because it needs the back plate to work, but it is really stuck to my old one and i cant get it off. does anyone know how to remove it? or is it a really big paperweight now?

Instillation video, watch it then you will know how it went on, so you can get it off and reinstall it.


i know how to install my problem is he tape on both sides is too sticky to take off and i plan to sell the motherboard

Hi, You have to pull out the metal threaded inserts from the backplate. There is no tape. You should have removed all of the cooler and then carefully pulll the backplate with both hands from the MB, just as you had pushed it in when installing it.

nnnnnnope there was definately tape. i had to apply enough force that the backplate came off, but so did half of the sticky foam part that is now attached to the motherboard

Hi,
ok, there is a double-sided tape (I learned something)

Easiest is using cleaning alcohol (90+%) on the tape.

Otherwise use a hair-dryer and blow carefully onto the tape to warm it up. Please control the temperature to no overheat the MBU. Then the glue softens up and use both hands to carefully pull the backplate out.
