A month ago I got a brand new MSI GT70 Dominator Pro which included an Nvidia GeForce GTX 880M. I couldn't wait to kick ass in gaming with amazing FPS and graphics. I played most games on high or ultra settings and started to notice FPS drops. At first I just shrugged it off but it started to get consistently worse so I decided to purchase 3D Mark 11 Advanced Edition (amazing software for testing your GPU by the way) and performed a test on my GPU. I was absolutely shocked by the scores...

Score: X1254
Graphics Score: 1112
Graphics Test 1: 7.28 FPS
Graphics Test 2: 5.32 FPS
Graphics Test 3: 5.76 FPS
Graphics Test 4: 3.04 FPS

If anyone could tell me the problem and how to fix it I would be forever grateful because I was really looking forward to playing games on my brand new MSI.

Thanks in advance!

Possible issues could include driver issues, power management issues, or just faulty components. I would suggest making sure you're running the latest drivers and make sure that Windows power management isn't disabling the GPU for some reason. If those don't help, then I would contact the manufacturer about your issues.

That sounds like thermal throttling. What are your temps when playing games?

I think Your Having Trouble with Nvidia's optimus Tech which switches the GPU to the Onboard Intel card automatically when your not gaming. I have the 880m and I had the same issues. Updated Nvidia drivers fixed the issue and Im good now. Download Geforce Experience and make sure you have the latest driver. If not Roll back to the OEM driver until another driver comes out or maybe MSI has a solution. Deff check optimus though I bet that's the problem

It is either NVIDIA Optimus or issues with the drivers. Try reinstalling older versions of the drivers or the newest NVIDIA drivers and see what happens.

If all fails, try doing a fresh OS-Reinstall, solved the problem for me
