All the parts in my pc are compatible with making a Hackintosh, I currently have windows 8.1.
The majority of my games are in steam or origin which i know are both available on OSX.
I'm thinking of switching from Windows to OSX, to avoid having to buy another SSD and dual boot them both.
My question is, will the gaming on the mac be any different at all?
Are most games compatible with OSX?
Thanks

Don't even dare to do it , only 30% of the steam library is available to OS . You'll lose a lot by switching to MAC

If you are already using Steam then you can check the compatibility of games with OS X. In my case I have about 20 Steam games on my PC. 5 of these are available on OS X. So, from that point of view, the gaming experience on my Mac is about 25% of that on my PC.

Add to this the fact that all but the most expensive Macs (I'm talking desktop Mac Pro, costing many thousands of dollars) have graphics cards that are inferior to those on cheap PCs. If you are into gaming there is no reason to switch to a Mac and many reasons not to. Spend your money on a top-end PC instead.

Edit: Sorry, I see that you are talking about a Hackintosh, so the hardware argument is less important (providing you can find a graphics driver that supports your graphics card as efficiently as the Windows driver does). A problem with committing to a Hackintosh as your only machine is that the next bug fix, or update, of the OS could break your installation. And you still have the problem of actually finding decent OS X games.

playing games on a a mac is like helping your friend move with a porche. It can be done, but it's a pain in the ass!

When I first played Steam I played TF2 on my Macbook Pro and it doesn't feel the same as Windows. I then played it on my Gateway which runs Windows 7 and it was a lot better. A gold reason to game on a PC is because a lot more games such as MW2 were made only for PC. There are also gaming PCs that exist and in a few weeks I probably will get a Cyberpower that runs Windows 7, AMD Athelon and a NVIDIA Graphics Card.
