So, my mobo decided it wanted to break down on me (thankfully during the warranty period) and honestly terrified to remove my CPU cooler and CPU. Where should I store the CPU while my mobo is being shipped out and what should I do about the thermal paste? Is there a way to remove it, or what?
Thanks in advance for any help.

If you have a box or a non-conductive area, that would be best for the CPU. As for the thermal paste, use a coffee filter or any fiber free cloth to wipe it off. You should also use 99% Isopropyl Alcohol.

Remove the thermal paste with rubbing alcohol and a lint free wipe.

And you can store it anywhere, it's not delicate China plates or something.

Thank you. I was just really scared I'd manage to mess something up.

Just try not to let anything make contact with the gold contacts on the bottom. If something does on accident, its no big deal, it's just safer to keep stuff from making contact with it.
