External Harddrive not recognized!!

Everything was working fine last night, but when plugged in this morning the hard drive is not showing up on the computer. It makes the sound like it knows something was plugged in, but that's it. We have tried it on 3 different computers and the same thing. Any ideas on what could be wrong or do you think its just dead?? Any help is appreciated!Thanks!

Sorry, I was mad so I forgot to add information! Forgive me please, I am doing this for my husband.. I'm going to put what the box says- he bought a new HD of the same kind.. It says WD My Book..
