What I want? A fast PC that can play games well and, more importantly, last a for awhile. Hence I want the MOST reliable parts possible.

Games I play: Tf2, Minecraft (heavily modded), Civilization, Starcraft 2, counterstrike, hearthstone, and lots of indie games.

I also program, but not 3d programming (yet :)).

And this build includes OS and monitor.

Okay so here is a prototype build I came up with:

Suggestions are welcomed.

Why not go for the newer haswell refresh stuff? It's roughly around the same price.

As for the rest of the build, I feel like you could go with a cheaper PSU like the EVGA Supernova NEX 750w and get a stronger GPU (r9 270x or r9 280).

Reliability wise, WD is more reliable than seagate.

Hey guys sorry to reply so late. I appreciate the responses. But i have another question.

Anyways I upgraded my cpu and gpu as recommended and changed other components to fit below my budget. And i changed my case. Here is the updated build: http://pcpartpicker.com/user/jokermanfont/saved/HRTp99

HOWEVER, pcpartpicker picks up a compatibility issue as follows
ASRock Fatal1ty Z87 Killer ATX LGA1150 Motherboard has an onboard USB 3.0 header, but the Cooler Master HAF 912 ATX Mid Tower Case does not have front panel USB 3.0 ports.
I saw another guy use the same mobo plus case together so I'm assuming this isn't a major problem (besides not being able to use usb 3.0)? If it is a problem, I would appreciate a mobo recommendation (at a similar price to the one i had).

Added an SSD for faster boot times. Changed cpu new the haswell refresh and gave you a h97 board since you will not be overclocking.
