Hi Guys,
I am looking at getting a new Graphics card and was wondering if anyone could give me some advice.
The 3 i am looking at are the XFX R9 290X Double Dissipation, MSI R9 290X Twin Frozr or Gigabyte GTX780 Windforce OC.

I am in Australia and these 3 are pretty close in price at the moment.

PC i have at the moment is

CPU 3770K
Ram DDR3 8GB
GPU Gigabyte HD7950

I mainly play Dayz at the moment but also muck around with Wildstar and Arma 3.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Cheers,
Nasool

The MSI R9 290X Twin Frozr seems like a good bet

I would get the XFX R9 290X, from my experiences, MSI has quality issues. The 780 and 290 are similar in performance, while the 290X is closer to the 780ti.

The 290x is way faster than the 780. From which vendor are you getting the 290x cheaper? If gigabyte is cheaper, then go with that and if the msi is cheaper, then go with that. But the Twin Frozer is more promising than the XFX DD edition. Before buying, check the RMA service for both of these vendors(i.e.,XFX and MSI) in your country.

According to benchmarks, 780 and 290X are on the same level. With 780 winning on some games. And 290X on some games.

It depends on your psu, a 780 recommended psu is roughly 550, whereas a r9 290x, can sometimes be 700W

I've only got a OCZ fatality 550w so was going to get a bigger power supply regardless.
The XFX is at PLE computers online, the MSI at Scorptec or the Gigabyte 780 from PC case gear.

I've had AMD cards for a while now but the GT70 dominator laptop I recently got had an nvidia card and i have liked the shadowplay aspect attatched to it.

There are so many benchmarks of so many cards is hard to decide what is the best option I thoughi might get some first hand info from people worth them at the moment.

I really just want to get the best performance at the $550ish AUD range and the 780ti or 295x2 are just not in my price range.

Yeah the 780 is at the same price range but I would rather go with the 290x if it's significantly better. I know there can be a lot of difference between brands of the same card that's why i specified the brand/model of the 3 I could afford to choose between.

If you haven't bought the gpu yet, then get the Gtx 980 or you can wait for AMD to bring out the big guns.
