Considering an upgrade to my ancient Q6600 system...

I likely won't upgrade again for a long time, so probably go a 4790K so I can OC in years to come, so the MB has to be suitable.

Will keep my Antec P180 case, 750w PSU and 280x.

Not sure the difference between chipsets.
Can also wait if something new is coming out.

Don't necessarily need an exact model, but info on what chipset/features/brand are good today.

Thanks.

The hero is good for gaming/enthusiast/overclocking, but if you want a simpler board look at Asus's mainstream performance boards like the Z97 Plus.

Thanks guys.
So looks like Z97 is the way to go.
Devils Canyon has just come out, anything big on the MB front before the end of the year?

How about a MSI Z97 Mpower/gaming 7/Asus Z97Deluxe?
Still,if you have the funds then then the Asus hero VII /Ranger would be a damn good choice.
