I've recently built a new PC and I noticed in the first couple games I downloaded that the game speed/physics speed was inconsistent. In the game Space Engineers it'll run smooth for a moment then the entire game slows down. It didn't feel like a framerate drop, but more of a change in the speed of time. The problem is very noticeable and deal breaking..
I'm running Windows 8.1 Pro and noticed that the clock speed of my CPU (FX-8350) is wildly fluctuating between 2.2 and 4.3 GHz both under load and at idle. Do I need to change something in BIOs or download drivers? Any suggestions would be appreciated, as this problem persists at low or ultra graphical settings. This wasn't a problem with my old build, which was quite inferior. Also, is it normal for the CPU Clock Speed to change so wildly? I assumed it should be static to produce proper timings during physics simulations.
My rig:
MOBO: Asus Sabertooth 990FX R2.0
CPU: AMD FX-8350
GPU: NVIDIA Gigabyte GTX770 Windforce 4GB
RAM: Corsair Vengeance 16GB @ 1600 MHZ (2x 8GB)
