First time build - Future proofing

I've been doing about two weeks worth of research for a new pc build (I'm a long time console user that is starting to see the light!) and have a few questions after getting a general feel for all the different components. This is the build I have come up with so far: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/ks4Fbv
I'm interested in a quality (good performance/RELIABLE) set up that will last me around 3-5 years without any major upgrades) and I think this setup achieves this. If I'm wrong please say so. I mostly play single player RPG and FPS games (Skyrim, Dishonored, Far Cry, etc)
. My main two questions are this:
1. Is this set up more than I need for the type of games that I play?
2. If so, am I better off sticking with it to allow for higher system req's in the future or saving money now and slowly upgrading in the future?
I'm sure I'll have many more questions as I get closer to my build (probably holiday season this year) but I want to get as much info as possible before I break the bank. Thank you all in advance for the advice!
