I have a situation guys. I just recently bought my new card (r9 280x) and OC'd it up to 1175/1625 and it seems to be handling alot of games very well. But im not completely happy yet with how it performs with some of the newer games that have came out (especially Watch Dogs). A mate of mine offered his ASUS HD 6970 2GB Crossfire for my card. Will I get better frames from this? Oh and another thing. I am a big fan of the whole crossfire concept.

Don't worry about Watch Dogs. It still can't handle sli or xfire. An R9 280x can only xfire with another 280x or a 7970 (same card). You'd probably need another power supply. Don't know about your cpu.

Oh alright. Well in just performance wise which is better? I think 2GB of vram should be enough for the next few years. But im still not quite sure. Should I make the trade do you think?

One R9 280x would perform about the same as 2 x HD6970's in crossfire. You'd need a good quality 800+W power supply to run them.

I easily have the power requirements. I know that they have around the same performance. Im just curious since these hd 6970's are the high end quality ones it would perform atleast 10% better?

Ah okay mate. So the hd 6970s being directcu ii wont really impact too much on performance increase compared to regular hd 6970s?

No. Whatever performance increase they have over reference models, the 280x will have too.
