Hi guys.
I purchased an Acer Aspire V7-552G and as such it has no disc drive.
I am looking at maybe downgrading from the pre-installed win 8 to win 7 (not a fan of win 8).
I have tried installing from usb, but the bios does not give me the option to do so.
It gives options for to boot from windows (via hdd), hdd, usb hdd, etc, but even when i go to f12 (i think thats the key) the only option i get is from main hdd.
Using 8gb usb stick, tried setting up in fat32 as well as ntfs.
Any help appreciated.
Cheers.
Scorp.

*Get START8 because other than the interface which that fixes, Windows 8 is superior in many, many ways. You can make W8 basically EXACTLY like W7 and never, ever use the new interface if you don't want to.

Too bad so few people realized this.

So:
1) RESTORE your backup image on your hidden partition (see your laptop site), then

2) Install START8, then adjust the settings:
- start in desktop
- disable Charms Bar in desktop mode
- transparency and other settings

3) I forget which settings aren't Start8, but you can Google how to directly boot right to your normal Desktop.

4) If Windows 8 (not 8.1) then update via the "STORE" link.

Other:
Not only will Windows 7 likely mess with a few of your laptop features, but Windows 8 is:
- more reliable (including automated Disk scanning)
- boots faster
- more secure (including UEFI boot which can prevent boot-time viruses that sneak into your registry before antivirus starts)
- several features (disc images, better Windows Explorer...)
- better System Memory management
- better SSD support
- more peripheral drivers pre-loaded
- some future software will be W8 and later only or just better on Windows 8

**If you bought the Windows 7 disc which is the only legal way unless you had a FULL version (unlikely) you can try selling it. If it's an official disc you may get most of your money back. If not, nothing lost and don't mention it.
