Can the Asus X550LN-DB71 play almost all MMO games? Is this a good laptop? Trying to see what I do with college.

I am on a budget of around $800, I wanted this laptop to play MMO games like TERA, Planetside 2, and any other big named MMO with big wars and stuff. I am asking if this is a good laptop that will run these types of games? I wanted to use this laptop also to have for college and do my models and reports as I will be a civil engineer student. On the other hand I have the option to get a $500-$600 pc that I would try to build. With the extra money (around $200) I try and find a Laptop I can still do school work with, I can try to add an extra $200 to get a decent one. My point is not to waste extra money and see if this laptop can run everything I need of it without getting the PC. What do you guys think, any advice is appreciated!

The specs of the laptop are:
i7 Intel
5400 RPM HDD
DDR3L SDRAM
NVIDIA GeForce GT 840M

  1. Yes it will run the games. However you would not be able to max it all out however still able to play on medium on 40-50+ FPS.

Oh haha I guess everyone goes for those high settings, I've never had anything amazing. I've had a desktop thats 10 years old and a laptop that gets me through school. This will probably be my first higher end laptop. So yea I wouldn't mind playing on those medium setting honestly. As long as it doesn't have trouble running or slowing down while playing the game I have no real problems. So pretty much this will get me through MMO's on normal settings?
