*I think it's your screen, but I don't have more time to discuss...

There's some good troubleshooting online, or you can try the following:

1) Hookup computer to a screen or HDTV (HDMI?)

2) Toggle the screen output:
Find the instructions, or look for the monitor icon which may be a SQUARE with a vertical line on each side. Find that, then hit the FUNCTION KEY SHIFT button (might be a color button or say "FN"...).

So, have your laptop hooked up, then toggle this feature every five seconds roughly and see if you have an output. (First, verify that input works such as using the cable for an HDMI BluRay player or device immediately beforehand, remove the media end and attach directly to the laptop).

(It's possible REBOOTING the laptop when attached may show something on the second screen as well)

**If you get an output on the screen that looks okay then your laptop screen is defective. If not, it's your video section prior to the screen section of the laptop and likely not fixable.

Assuming it's NOT still under Warranty you can try looking further at troubleshooting the component which if it's your screen is likely the main LCD panel (not the backlight). If so, your model can lead you to a replacement part as well as replacement instructions (Google) which often aren't too hard.
