Screen Resolution is stuck on 800x600. Any help?

So today I finished my first build and after running a disk lent by my buddy, I find out its a torrented version of Windows 7. I let the set up go through as I know I'm gonna grab a retail copy tomorrow. But I noticed something odd about my resolution. After installing the drivers (In which I get a log report as fail) my result in won't go past 800x600. Is this because I have a torrented Windows 7? By getting the retail version would that solve my problems? If not, how can i fix his?!Thanks again!

I'd say it's because of your dodgy pirated version of Windows. Should be fixed by buying the retail version, and if not, let me know and I'll help you out!

The above is the nice way of saying it's not only illegal to torrent software in this manner, but that we also can't help you. You'll also get yourself banned if you persist.

I have advice, I just won't give it.

So I got the copy the day after and I had it working. Recently I got windows 8.1. Also, I have a question posted about my SLI. I plugged in my computer after a rebuild and now I have this weird problem where the windows boot logo displays on one screen and after the pc is booted up the screen goes black and the desktop is displayed on the second screen. Its confusing, if you can answer here or the other post that would be great!
