Hi guys, about a week ago the community helped me pick out parts for a kick ass computer.

http://pcpartpicker.com/user/Utauni/saved/MKPgXL

Finally everything arrived yesterday, and after watching many videos I assembled everything (correctly).

So here is where I run into some problems. I put on my computer and put in the windows 8.1 disk. It goes to the screen and I select install -> it then asks what hard drive to go on and I select my SSD drive. After only a few minutes the installation is complete and says it needs to reset. After a few attempts these are the results:

First time, it gave me this message -> A disk read error occurred

Second time, after fully reinstalling the computer resets and just loads back into the same windows setup screen - as if it didnt install at all.

Not sure if I am supposed to install updates for my motherboard first or something has to happen prior, but if i load the computer without the windows disk it asks for me to insert boot media in selected boot device.

Any suggestion/ help for a first timer would be greatly appreciated.

Go into the bios and check the boot order, it might not be trying to boot to the SSD.

I had this happen to me once, so hopefully this will help you.

First, make sure you have your optic drive as first option in bios boot order.
When installing windows, select the SSD "partition" to install Windows.
After the initial part of copying the files and stuff, when you get the first restart, eject the disk before the PC reboots.
After you go past bios, and windows install continues, insert the disk back.
Just to be sure, do this eject/insert thing for every reboot that happens.

After windows is installed, go to bios and set the SSD as first one in the boot order.

Try this, and let me know if it works.

Make sure the hdd is unplugged when installing windows onto the SSD, plug it back in later when everything is confirmed working

When I select my boot option as AHCI of my optic drive it loads up and everything, but when I go to install windows it now says, " Windows can not be installed on this disk." I go to the bios after and now my SSD is not showing up in the bios options anymore. It looks like this.

SATA3_0: Not detected
SATA3_1: Not detected
SATA3_2: Not detected
SATA3_3: Not detected
SATA3_4: HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GH24NSBO
SATA3_5: Not detected

My SSD will not show up in the bios at all. I don't really understand why it has shown in the past but not now. Any ideas how to get my SSD to show up? I have unplugged my hard disk drive, only my CD-rom for the windows disk and my ssd now are there.

Update- I was checking on all the connections to make sure they were all correctly connected and now when the computer turns on it goes to the windows installation page but just shows the windows icons and sits there for about 2 minutes then the whole screen just turns black.....

I am really feeling overwhelmed lol. Please help ;p
