I just built my first pc and everything is plugged in and works. I installed windows 8.1 and have been using the onboard video but when I plug in a dvi cable from monitor to gpu there is no signal. There is just a black screen and it says no signal. I tried installing all drivers but I'm not sure if they installed properly. Gpu is sapphire Radeon r9 290 and psu is evga supernova nex 750 w 80 plus gold. I would really appreciate some help.

first of all you have to disable the onboard gfx for running the external gpu from bios change the igp to pcie..
